Birthday Parties
The parties can occur day or night, rain or shine - during every month of the year. This is the party that the birthday child and her guests will remember for a life time.
Each party starts with a brief orientation where our birthday party hostess goes over the barn’s safety rules. Afterwards the birthday boy or girl and his/her guests start off on a tour of the farm. They will learn a little bit about horses and their care as they walk around the barns. The children will get to meet a few special horses like Cassie and Jack and feed them some treats. If they are lucky, they might even get to see Jack perform some of his tricks!
After meeting Cassie and Jack and perhaps some of our other Schauber ponies and horses, the children will spend some time in our petting zoo. In our 
petting zoo, the children can meet our adorable (but very naughty) pygmy goats and Ellie the Lamb. Often times the goats and Ellie come out of their fence and “play” with the children. The birthday party boy or girl and his/her guests will also meet the newest additions to our Schauber Family – Nacho our mini-donkey and Winston – our pot belly pig. The children will meet “Mama Blanca” and her baby, “Baby Marcus” – who was born in February of 2011.
After enjoying time interacting with our friendly barn yard animals, the children will engage in other fun activities. They may perform a barn chore – like cleaning a stall, filling a water trough or even haying some horses. (And parents, don’t be shocked if you are asked to help! There’s always a lot of work that needs to get done on a farm!) The children may learn to groom a horse (or a pony) and then practice what they have learned. The children will also make an age appropriate craft. Instead of a craft, the children may, if it is warm enough outside, finger paint a real live horse! (This activity is very weather dependent since it has to be warm enough to give Jack - or one of our other gray horses - a bathe after he’s painted.)
Toward the end of the party, the birthday boy or girl and his or her guests will go for a ride on a pony or a horse – depending upon the age and size of the children.
Our portion of the birthday party lasts approximately 1 ½ hours. Afterwards, the birthday child and his/her guests are free to have cake, ice cream and open gifts in the gazebo or the activity center. You may even have lunch or dinner and order pizza or bring a picnic. We offer additional options to 'add-on' . . . but the birthday party without the add-on activities is plenty to keep the children happy and occupied!
The birthday party costs $200 for up to 8 children. The birthday party child is free. There is no charge for adults.
CRAFTS
The craft activities include making a picture frame, decorating a small wooden horse or jewlery box, using fabric paint to decorate a small canvas bag.
Additional arts and crafts activities - such as decorating a tee shirt - are available at an additional cost.
CUSTOMIZING YOUR PARTY
The birthday party has plenty to do . . . but if you want to do more (and have a slightly longer birthday party) you may customize your child's birthday party by adding one or more of the following:
A piñata- where the children will be blind folded while they try to hit at the piñata. When the piñata finally opens the children will be showered with yummy treats. The cost of adding on a piñata is $30. Add an additional 15 minutes to the length of the party.
A scavenger hunt- Children will scour the farm in teams of two or more looking for a list of hidden items. The cost of adding on a scavenger hunt is $25.00. Add an additional 15 minutes to the length of the party.
A mini-trail ride - Children 8 years and older may go on a mini-trail ride. Small groups of children ride horses around the property and around the outside of the some of the paddocks. The mini trail ride is approximately 15 minutes long. The children who are waiting are provided activities. Additional time is necessary for this activity. The cost for this activity is $12 a child.
A mini-riding lesson - Children 6 years and older may take a·mini-riding lesson. Small groups of children will go in the indoor where they will learn the basics of riding horses and ride completely by themselves! The mini riding lesson lasts approximately 10 minutes.·The children who are waiting are provided activities.·Additional time is necessary for this activity.· The cost for this activity is $10 a child.
Making Horse Treats - The birthday party girl or boy and his or her friends will have a blast making some yummy treats for the horses to eat. The cost of adding "Horse Treats" to the birthday party is $20.
A 'picnic lunch'may be included at the end of the birthday party at no additional cost. You may bring a picnic or even have pizza delivered from the barn's favorite pizzeria, Brooke's Pizza (877-8550).
